SmartBridge Mobile

SmartBridge Mobile Overview

SmartBridge Mobile is the smartest, most fully featured radio head in the market. The radio is now an app; installed and updated automatically from the Google Playstore. The radio body goes under the seat and SmartBridge Mobile delivers a user friendly, operations focussed, fully integrated front end radio experience like no other. With your choice of tablet, a 7-10" touch screen interface, integration with voice, messaging, contacts, AVL/GPS, operations, and health and safety features. Separating the user interface and functionality from the RF body results in a huge simplification of installation, upgrades (software and hardware), configuration, and applying new features and enhancements. Visits to the vehicle for firmware updates are a thing of the past. Whether you have 10 or 1,000 radios in the field, the simplicity of management, training, user satisfaction and cost reductions will be profound.

Think of the possibilities....

  • Standard tablets come with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, LTE/4G (if desired), NFC, and 7”- 10” of colour IPS touchscreen.
  • IT friendly and easy to integrate Contacts from exchange, or just from a Google account, MDM, and other productivity tools. No re-programming the radio.
  • Migrating from MPT to DMR?, UHF to VHF? Mixed fleet?: No problem! Update the RF body, not the user interface.
  • User and business focussed functionality all easily updated: GPS based network selection, AVL store/forward, DND, call forwarding, group calls, volume control, status messaging, change the functionality on screen, all without reprogramming the radio.

Synchronised Contact Integration

Full and automatic contact synchronisation and integration means your team have names, not numbers.

  • Scroll up and down and search Contacts just like you would on your phone.
  • See missed calls, messages, and status, all by name.
  • change contact lists centrally (eg Exchange or Outlook), and synch to every vehicle instantly. No radio programming required.

Now you can actually use messaging

Sending and recieving messages on radio is hard. Now it's not. Select a team member (by name) type a message, send. Simple!

  • View logs of calls, messages, and choose how to reply.
  • Colors and symbols indicate incoming, outgoing, and missed calls and messages, just like on your phone.
  • Count indicator shows you how many unread messages or missed calls you have.
  • Instantly call or message people simply, and at the touch of a button.

Operations not just Status

User defined and configured operations by leveraging status messaging. Change operations per vehicle, or fleet wide. All configured and changed without radio programming.

  • Select naming, colours, symbols and destination for the operational notification.
  • Up to 8 different operations on screen per network, so you can have different operations and destinations when on DMR than on MPT.
  • Configure SmartBridge Dispatcher to respond to different status for health and safety.
  • CallBack requests and other operations initiated at the touch of the button greatly reduce dispatcher load and simplify communications.

GPS, AVL reporting, and multi carrier support

The Android tablet hardware specification can be selected by you, for your operational requirements. It's off the shelf and you can mix and match to suit.

  • A-GPS, Bluetooth, NFC/RFID, standard or ruggedised, WiFi, tried and proven Android implementation includes Google Play, easy IT integration and app eco-system.
  • LTE provides options for further convergence of cellular voice and data and in future VoLTE and PTToC options, all in the one device with one interface.
  • On screen display shows GPS quality, location, lat/long and ability to freeze the display for easy reporting.
  • Extensive event based AVL capture including; on/off network, change in RSSI, time/distance/speed, Operations activation, call up/down, PTT, full store and forward when out of radio coverage, or send over WiFi or cellular. All configurable without reprogramming the radio.

Yes! SmartBridge Mobile can be used with other enterprise consoles. In addition it implements our DirectConnectPlus! Technology that sends back GPS locations more often based on real operational events, eg speed/distance/PTT/IO activation, and that’s all configurable without touching the radio!

Yes, you can use SmartBridgeMobile on any 8Ó or 10Ó tablet. You will need to consider mounting. We use and recommend ramount mounting options.

Of course! We designed SmartBridge to help consolidate the device clutter in your vehicles and on the desktop. You can load email, GIS, whatever you like. In Fact our sister companies www.mettrigger.com, www.dashavl.com and www.tvd.co.nz offer applications which also run on these tablets and provide enhanced productivity solutions.

Yes. You can set the Status and give them real names and simply tap the screen to activate a status send. No radio programming required.

No, not at this stage. We have considered this and would be interested in partnering with a customer that had plans for a large iOS deployment. Please contact us if you think this might suit you.

As you would expect, we reviewed dozens of tablets and Android OS implementations from all sorts of manufacturers and OEM’s. At this stage we consider that for our users globally the Samsung tablets provide an excellent platform for support requirements, at a price and functionality point that will suit clients. They are readily available, have excellent support/warranty, there are reliable 3rd party mounting options from companies like www.rammount.com. We are constantly evaluating the best solutions for our customers so feel free to talk to us if you have a different requirement.

Radio Specific Questions - SmartBridge Mobile

Yes! It supports off fleet voice and SDM (and directconnect SDM’s). In fact it is so smart you get  real names displaying, not the nomal “OffFlt”. This allows you much greater flexibility with fleet numbering plans.

Correct. The whole install is greatly simplified and reduces clutter.

Correct! All the user does is turn on the tablet and the SmartBridge app will update all by its self. Just like any app on your smartphone. Just think what that will save you!

No. The TP9300 Bluetooth connection and protocol only supports audio, it does not support data for radio control.

The TP9300 Bluetooth connection and protocol only supports audio, it does not support data for radio control.

Absolutely! FreshRF have an aggressive technology roadmap to support other radio bodies and networks, while ensuring we continue to support existing ones as new radio firmware becomes available.

No, not at this stage, but we are actively looking at this and would welcome contact from dealers or end users with a suitably large fleet to justify this work.

FreshRF protocol stack has been re-written and re-written over many years and more recently optimised for the Android environment. The SmartBridge application effectively communicates with the radio using the specific protocol stack to suit the radio. Think of it like the old days of computers interfaced to a modem telling the modem what to do, and getting updates back on status.

No. However we are regularly looking at enhancements that can improve the usability of the radioÕs. Please contact us for a detailed overview of enhancements requested on the radio firmware.

ÒRadio TXTÓ messages are limited according to the type of network. On radio networks the bandwidth for sending data is much lower (1,200 Ð 9,600 baud) and so sending very large messages can impact the network, so they are constrained in size. Talk to your network provider about capacity.

At this stage we have focussed on the highly regarded Tait radio’s. These include T2000 (with UART), TM8xxx, TM9000, TP93xx, TP81xx, Orca. We are actively working to support different radio bodies across MPT, DMR, P25 and LTE.

Currently the protocol stack supports MPT1327 and DMR Tier3, we will soon be adding our other protocol stacks for P25 and Conventional (TierII and analog). Please contact us if you have a requirement which may fast track our roadmap.
